Black Pepper Mascarpone Custard and Macerated Berries

views the best pictures

This dish speaks for itself. A creamy, cheesy, light mascarpone mixed with a lemony custard and surrounded by a pool of summer berries. It makes sense doesn't it? The real surprise comes from the cracked black pepper. When you see the unassuming black flakes floating throughout the custard, it makes you a little curious. The pepper adds the right amount of savory element that contrasts nicely with the sweet berries. If I don't say so myself......it isn't that bad to look at either.
